Clipping occurs when a football player tackles another player using his body to hit the side of the knee or the inside of the opposite knee at groin level. It is especially dangerous to the ACL and PCL (ligaments) when the foot is planted in the ground or on a field that is muddy or with ice. Knee shields for contact sports are two pieces of plastic that has a unique dual stop bearing for protecting the ligaments of the knee against injury during clipping or quick pivoting or turning (rotational traction) when conventional radially disposed cleats are worn.
One player will have 4 sets of knee shields mounted in pockets about the lateral sides of the knees. Since most injuries occur at the High School level, a 3 tier pricing structure will be considered for High School, college and professional sports where the knee shields are expected to be worn. Neoprene sports pants are being designed for housing the knee shields. They will be worn as underwear.
